Rovaniemi has been the business centre of Finnish Lapland since the 19th century. It was razed to the ground by the Germans in the final days of World War II, with only a handful of buildings left standing. The rebuilding after the war and the economic development in the ensuing decades have left much of the city a featureless expanse of concrete blocks. Officially Rovaniemi became a city in 1960, and in 2006 it merged with the surrounding rural municipality of Rovaniemi.

Because of its central location and status, Rovaniemi has become a center of education in Finnish Lapland. There are as many as 10 000 university and university of applied sciences level students living in Rovaniemi. Compared to the number of inhabitants living in the old city area (pre-2006), as many as one in three or four people are students. During summers this shows as a large drop in the number of people vacating the city.

The river Kemijoki, notable for being the longest river in Finland, runs next to the city center. On the west side of the river there is a large hill called Ounasvaara.

Santa Claus Village, 8 km north of Rovaniemi and right on the old computed place of the Arctic Circle (currently computed to be 2km north), is a tourist trap if there ever was one – but few tourists can miss the chance to meet Santa himself. Apart from meeting the man, there are also other attractions like small-scale sledding hills for kids, Santa Claus post office with nice special stamp, souvenir shops etc. The village hosts also several safari companies that organize various activities. During dark times the village has nicely lit ice sculptures.

A word of advice before beginning your Paris vacation: bring along good, comfortable shoes. You will do lots of walking, but you probably won’t notice it at first as the sights and the atmosphere of the city will have you mesmerised!

The inner life of Paris is full of romance and fragrances. You will not find a more romantic place than Paris. The people from all around the world fly to Paris for their romantic memories.

Paris is the centre of fashion. You will find the world's top models flying to Paris to get an insight to the fashion of the world. The top most designers of every decade used to live in Paris. This means that when you are visiting Paris, you will see many new and unique fashion trends developing right in front of your own eyes.

French people love food. This becomes evident when you eat in Paris. The French food is among the most famous in the world. The French people are imaginative and they let this influence their cuisine as well. The French meal normally has three courses. The salads and the soups come first, the main dish follows and then you end up eating cheeses.

The 300m high Eiffel Tower is probably the most famous landmark in the world, and is the capital’s most visited attraction—ironic for a structure that was intended to stand for just a few months. The cast-iron tower was built for the 1889 World Fair and the centenary of the 1789 Revolution and was named after its designer, Gustave Eiffel. It took over two years to construct using some 18,000 pieces of metal and 2,500,000 rivets. It was the tallest structure in the world until New York’s Empire State Building was constructed in the 1930s. 20,000 flashbulbs light up the edifice at night making it even more stunning.

Under the Arc de Triomphe lies the grave of an unknown soldier. Napoleon ordered its construction in 1809 as a monument to the Republican armies. The arch is 50m high and 45m wide and bears the names of Napoleon’s victories, and is decorated with a frieze of battle scenes and sculptures, the most famous of which is 'Departure of the Volunteers', depicting the departure of volunteer forces after the French Revolution. The arc is the starting point of the annual Bastille Day military procession.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15093010267349070085noreply@blogger.com1Paris, France48.856614 2.352221900000017748.6894645 2.0294984000000178 49.0237635 2.6749454000000177tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3971957522266756069.post-47083002506615149122014-07-26T12:40:00.000+07:002014-08-04T15:01:29.506+07:00Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1435 Hijriah

Namisum is a tiny half-moon shaped island located in Chuncheon, South Korea, formed as it was inundated by the rising water of the North Han River as the result of the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam in 1944.
Its name originated from General Nami, who died at the age of 28 after being falsely accused of treason during the reign of King Sejo, the seventh king of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea.
Although his grave wasn't discovered, there were a pile of stones where his body was supposed to be buried. It was believed that if someone took even one stone from there, it would bring misfortune to their house. A tour company arranged the grave with soil and then developed Namisum into an amusement park.
Nami Island is an oasis for culture and leisure in peaceful harmony with humanity and nature.
After a five-minute ferry ride, guests meet a forest of verdant trees holding up the sky and open grassy areas where ostriches, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, ducks and peacocks warmly welcome visitors in the midst of wild flowers.
On Nami Island, artists from all over the world show-off their talents and share the sense of peace of mind the island creates.
The island is the site of Nami Island International Children's Book Festival (NAMBOOK) and other cultural events that take place every weekend, making Nami one of the main cultural and artistic tourist attractions in Korea.
In 2006, the island declared its cultural and artistic tourist attractions in Korea, and declared its cultural independence and was reborn as Naminara Republic.
It has its own national flag, anthem, currency, passport and phone cards, stamps, orthography and even a certification of citizenship.

Nami is home to several galleries and is the site of the Song Museum, which also houses a collection of international ethnic musical instruments.
There are indoor and outdoor stages, facilities for seminars and workshops in addition to a 46-room modern hotel and 10 cottages.
Nami Island is dedicated to improving the mental and physical well being of children throughout the world.
As such, it serves as the main sponsor of the Hans Christian Andersen Award and contributes regularly to UNICEF. Naminara is unique in other ways, also.
At night, all the lights are turned off on the island so that visitors can harmonize with nature under the light of the moon and stars.
Most of wood and bottles generated by visitors to the island are recycled and re-used.
Nami has a very open hiring and retirement policy so people can work until they are 80 years old if they wish.

The island, especially the Metasequoia path, was one of the main filming locations of Korean Broadcasting System 2002 television drama series Winter Sonata, starring Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo.
It attracted 270,000 Korean and foreign visitors in 2001. After it was featured in the drama, it attracted 650,000 visitors in 2002.
Since then the number of visitors has continued to grow, reaching 2.3 million in 2012.

Sometimes called "the pearl of the Zuiderzee", this place is a highly popular tourist destination.
Here, you'll find many Dutch clichés, including the traditional costumes and wooden shoes. Most of them, however, have a lot of historic truth to them.
Legend has it that the Volendam coat of arms is a compliment to the beauty of the Volendam girls !
No wonder that a famous singer sang the praise of this characteristic Dutch fishing village in the words: "Anyone who wants to see the real beauty of Holland, goes to Volendam".
As a result of its completely insulated location, this village preserved its character for six centuries, also because of the tough vitality of the fishermen.
The characteristic small houses, which together with the canals and the drawbridges form the most picturesque spots, present the visitor an atmosphere of geniality and romance.
Don’t forget to visit the Volendam museum with the ’Sigarenbandjeshuis’, where cigar rings are on display.
The park contains various movie-themed rides and attractions ranging from motion simulators to roller coasters and slow river rides. In addition, costumed character performers also patrol the park, allowing visitors the chance to take photos with them.
These include Batman, Austin Powers, Marilyn Monroe, Scooby Doo, The Mystery Inc Gang and various Looney Tunes characters. Minor street shows including skits and singing performances are also present. The All-Star Parade showcases costumed characters alongside vehicles and movie-themed floats.
The wonderful beauty of the Indonesian
archipelago once again received worldwide recognition as Indonesia was
named the fourth most beautiful country in the world through the survey
conducted on Twitter and Pinterest by United Kingdom’s leading leisure
travel company website, First Choice.

Topped only by Latvia, Mexico, and
Turkey, Indonesia managed to outrank other countries in the top ten
which include United Kingdom, Italy, New Zealand, Brazil, India, and
Canada. Other popular vacation countries such as Swiss, France, Spain,
and Japan did not even make it to the top ten. The survey was officially
closed at midnight GMT on Friday, 18 May 2012.

Java island is the highest population island in Indonesia, As the heart of the nation, Java is an island
with combination of megacities, mesmerising natural beauty, and
you will find mixing lifestyles from traditional to modern.

At the cities specially Jakarta and Surabaya, city is trafic and crowded but outside of the cities
you will find a Java of bewitching landscapes with iridescent rice paddies,
villages of terracotta-tiled houses, bubbling streams and patches of dense jungle-clad hills.
Verdant and fecund, this is one of the most fertile regions on earth, with three annual crops
possible in some areas. And with over 40 volcanoes forming a spiky backbone, almost every
journey in Java passes a succession of giant, often smoking cones.
As part of Indonesia, Kalimantan is offering you another view. Summoning visions of mythical people and ancient forests, it tugs at the adventurer within. It’s a romantic notion, but the world’s third-largest island has managed to keep some of her secrets and most of them lie in the impenetrable interior of Kalimantan.

Occupying two-thirds of Borneo’s primeval land mass, Kalimantan is one of Indonesia’s least-visited provinces. A void on the tourist radar, it’s a red flag to those hungry for the unknown. Mountains, forests and mighty rivers stretch across the interior, influencing the culture, history and livelihoods of villages throughout. Although the logging and mining industries have had a 30-year feeding frenzy, the fury of the chainsaw and the tide of wasteland is beginning to slow. But you need to be quick – Kalimantan’s hidden world continues to dissapears.
Even the urban jungle begs exploration. The view of canoe rides to Banjarmasin’s floating markets and dusk journeys through its enigmatic canals imbue travellers with a taste of modern culture.

You can trek in Kayan Mentarang National Park, the Apokayan Highlands, and around the eastern reaches of the vast Sungai Kapuas. And with little effort you can come face to face with orang-utans, macaques, proboscis monkeys, bird life and maybe even the odd sun bear. More than that, theres also unknown hidrenalin adventures awaits for you there.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15093010267349070085noreply@blogger.com1Central Borneo, Indonesia-0.65916514628945044 114.9609375-4.7194436462894505 109.90722650000001 3.4011133537105493 120.01464849999999
